Biosketch – Prof. Giacomo Cusumano
Prof. Giacomo Cusumano (Palermo, April 28, 1979) is Associate Professor of Thoracic Surgery at the University of Catania and Consultant Thoracic Surgeon at the University Hospital G. Rodolico and San Marco.
He graduated summa cum laude in Medicine and Surgery from the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome (2004), specialized in Thoracic Surgery (2009, summa cum laude), obtained a Master’s degree in Robotic Surgery (2012), and a PhD in Organ Transplantation (2013).
With more than 20 years of surgical practice, he has performed over 2000 thoracic procedures, including >800 as first operator (anatomical lung resections, thymectomies, minimally invasive VATS and robotic surgery, airway and esophageal surgery).
He authored 79 peer-reviewed publications (Scopus h-index 18, >1100 citations), serves on editorial boards of international journals, and has held leadership roles in scientific societies (SICT, SIET, ESTS, ITMIG).
